  3.         "MODEL'S MEMOIRS - An Interactive Diary"
  4.  
  5. Welcome to the CD-X Inc. CD-ROM.  This CD-ROM provides "Model's Memoirs" 
  6. CD-Rom viewers with video of unequaled quality and pleasure. 
  7. This CD-Rom plays to PC/AT's with high color display
  8. cards or standard VGA display cards that are supported with a VESA 
  9. driver.

  11.                 INSTALLATION FILE FOR CD-X INC. CD-ROMS!
  12.  
  13. To configure your PC with Expanded Memory, make sure your Config.sys
  14. file has the following:
  15.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\HIMEM.SYS
  16.     DEVICE=C:\DOS\EMM386.EXE 2048 FRAME=e000 RAM
  17. If you use QEMM: 
  18.     DEVICE=C:\QEMM\QEMM386.SYS RAM
  19.         (Instead of HIMEM.SYS and EMM386.EXE)
  20. If you are using any other type of memory manager you must look in 
  21. your manual for the appropriate line to be added to your Config.Sys.
  22.  
  23. 1.  Insert the CD-X CD-Rom into your CD-ROM drive
  24.  
  25. 2.  Access your CD-ROM drive [e.g. E: F: <enter>]
  26.  
  27. 3.  At the prompt for the system, type "INSTALL D C <enter>". 
  28.     This Example is if your D drive is a CD-Rom drive and you wish 
  29.     to install the Directory to the C Drive. Follow Instructions.
  30.     [e.g. D E <enter>] - Do not use a colon after the CD-ROM 
  31.     drive letter 
  32.  
  33. 4.  Once installation is finished a CD_X directory will be 
  34.     created on the Hard drive. 
  35.  
  36. 5.  To start "Model's Memoirs" go to the CD_X directory on 
  37.     your Hard Drive and type "GO" <enter>.
  38.  
  39. 6.) If you do not have the DOS directory in your path you may get
  40.     a bad command when you run the install -
  41.         - The files that need to be copied are:
  42.         - TMMPLAY.EXE & .GXL
  43.         - ?.GFT
  44.         - TESTAUD.EXE
  45.         - TEST.WAV
  46.         - THE GO.BAT FILE FROM THE ?PLAY DIR. 
  47.                 - CD-ROM = D - GO TO DPLAY DIR; ETC..
  48.         - README.TXT
  49.  
  50. 7.)If your Hard drive is something other than the "C" drive - run 
  51.    the install as noted, with one exception:
  52.     Example: INSTALL F D
  53.         THIS IS FOR A CD-ROM OF F AND HARD DRIVE OF D
  54.         * ONCE THE INSTALL IS FINISHED YOU MUST EDIT THE 
  55.           GO.BAT FILE - 
  56.             CLS
  57.             @ ECHO OFF
  58.             SET TMMLIB=D:\D_XTC
  59.             TMMPLAY F:\OPEN.TMM
  60.  
  61.         * YOU MUST EDIT THE TMMLIB=?:\D_XTC LINE *
  62.  
  63. 8.) The Audio test program is run by typing TESTAUD TEST.WAV
  64.     This will configure the TMMPLAY to run with your Audio Card.
  65.         This test will create an AUDIO.CFG File, If you need
  66.         to change this file, or if the audio test does not
  67.         recognize your audio card correctly, follow these
  68.         instructions.
  69.     The Audio.Cfg file consists of the following:
  70.         
  71.         Card No=2
  72.         BaseIO=220
  73.         DMA=1
  74.         IRQ=7
  75.     
  76.     (This would be for a SoundBlaster Card at Base IO=220, DMA=1, 
  77.      IRQ=7)
  78.         You can change this to match the settings on your audio
  79.         card as follows:
  80.             Card No=1 (for Media Vision)
  81.             Card No=2 (for Soundblaster)
  82.             Card No=3 (for Adlib)
  83.             Card No=4 (for Microsoft SoundSystem)
  84.             Set BaseIO, DMA, IRQ to your settings on your Audio 
  85.             Card.
  86.         This should take care of any audio problems.
  87.     - If you have a ProAudio Spectrum 16 Soundcard that can be set up 
  88.       as a Soundblaster - you must set the mvsound.sys with s:0 and t:1
  89.         to get best sound
  90.     - If you have the Soundblaster Pro ASP: you must set your card at 
  91.       IRQ=7 and DMA=1
  92.

  100.     Your video card needs to be VESA compliant.  Most cards 
  101.     require drivers loaded as TSRs during boot.  If you do 
  102.     not have one of these drivers, please contact the card 
  103.     manufacturer.

  105.     Common questions and problems:
  106.  
  107.     1.) The image is very poor - few colors and bad resolution.
  108.       
  109.       You have a non-VESA card or the VESA driver is not 
  110.       loaded when running the program.  Add the driver to 
  111.       your Autoexec.Bat
  112.

  204. NOTE: If the CD-ROM drive letter is changed after installing
  205. this disk, you will need to run the installation again.

  207. NOTE: If the CD-ROM does not run with your Video Card you may
  208. need to add the appropriate VESA drivers for your system.
